my biggest desire is for these pictures to reflect you two + your love. your engagement session should feel like a celebration of the season of life that you two are in together and i just happen to be third wheeling with my camera! i will do my absolute best to support you two in anyway that you might need while heading into, during and after your session (the same goes for your wedding!) i am going to be your personal cheerleader.
do you want to know my BIGGEST piece of advice for you two before your engagement session? well, here it is!!! just be yourselves and let your personalities shine through! the more you feel like yourselves, the more comfortable you will be. then in turn, the better your images will turn out!
i created this guide so intentionally with the two of you in mind. i created it with the sole purpose of desiring to help you + serve you. i want you to feel confident + loved during this season, so go ahead and dig into the guide. know that i am so thankful for you two + i can NOT wait to continue serving you!!!
WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT DURING YOUR ENGAGEMENT SESSION
i will guide you, but never control you. i will give you prompts that always leave lots of room for you two to be YOU. i will almost always have you moving in some way, whether that's a piggy back ride or gently rubbing your fiance's cheek!
it will feel like you two are on a date and i am just third wheeling with my camera. it is going to be a BLAST, i promise!
HOW TO PICK OUT YOUR OUTFITS
this may seem so simple, but wear what you are comfortable in. these images should reflect the two of you as a couple and as individuals. wear what makes you feel confident and happy!! if that means wearing your favorite dress, then do it. if that means wearing your favorite jeans + top, then do it. wear what you love! remember to choose comfort over looks! if you are super uncomfortable in the outfit that you choose to wear for your session, then it will show in the images.
wear colors that compliment each other! i promise your images will be 1000x better if you do this! my pinterest boards are super helpful for seeing which colors look best together or you can always send me some options and we can pick out the best! (compliment each other, but don't match)
bring outfit options to your session OR send me some options beforehand! i want to help you feel comfortable, so if you need to face time me, go for it!
try to avoid anything with flashy logos as they will distract from your beautiful faces! also, if you are going to wear any patterns, try to have only one of you wear something patterned at a time because if you both wear patterns then you will probably clash!
below are some examples of couples of mine who wore outfits that they absolutely loved, which allowed their personalities to shine through!
abbie + luke absolutely KILLED their engagement session. they sent me pictures beforehand of options and wore the outfits they felt comfortable in. abbie's jumpsuit is patterned which goes perfectly with luke's plain shirt + pants. they are also pictured above both wearing simple shirts and pants. this really enhanced the location + their love for one another!!!
jen + sam have a LOVE for ice cream that i totally got behind because i'm a fellow ice cream lover. this meant that at the beginning of their session they made milkshakes together and it was so perfectly them. they both opted for neutrals, which i love. they complimented each other well, yet didn't match. this can often be a difficult thing to do when wearing all neutral colors, but these two killed it with the complimentary colors.
kendall + luke are the stinking sweetest and their engagement session was an absolute blast. they played cards in her sunroom, got ice cream at ecreamery, and ended being super cozy in a park! her simple floral top paired super well with luke's blue shirt and they both wore their favorite jeans! they were extra comfortable taking their pictures because of the outfits they were wore!
HOW TO PICK A LOCATION
do you have a spot that is special to the two of you? maybe the spot where you had you first date or where you got engaged?
these images are going to tell your story and reflect you two down to each detail, so if you have a spot that is special to you, let's go there.
